Consists of records of the Yellowstone Highway Association and its predecessors, the Canada to Canal Highway Association and the Yellowstone Trail Association. The correspondence is mainly that of J.W. Parmley and H.O. Cooley. Among the financial records are reports, bills, membership dues, and pledge cards. Speeches were written by J.W. Parmley, Robert Anderson, and F.A. Finch. The promotional material series contains brochures, maps, photographs, and posters.

Incorporated as a non-profit organization September 5, 1930. The movement for good roads in South Dakota began in 1907 when Joseph W. Parmley organized the South Dakota Good Roads Association.
